Receiving Inbound Shipments

Once an inbound shipment reaches your warehouse it must be recorded as “Received” and any unsellable inventory items must be registered.

Receive Inbound Shipment

A shipment has been physically received into your warehouse. The next step is to record the shipment’s reception on the portal. To do this, perform the following two steps:

  1. Open the shipment you want to Receive and select “Receive All” in the top right corner. This will update the values in the “Actual” column to match the values in the “Expected” column.

  1. An “Options” drop-down menu will also have appeared at the top of the page. Click on it and select “Receive” to finish.

Record damaged or lost items

Now is the time to account for any unsellable items in the shipment. Let’s say that 3 of the paper computers in the above shipment were damaged while unloading. You need to make a record of this.

First open the shipment that you received and use the arrows in the “Actual” column to adjust how many sellable items were actually received.

In our example we decrease the Actual number of computers from 85 to 82 since 3 of them were damaged.

We now need to account for the 3 computers that are now missing from the “Actual” record. To mark 3 computers as unsellable, select the “Add” button beside the item in the “Unsellable” column.

On the slide over page you may choose to upload a photo of the unsellable item or add a note about what happened. In our example, we want to specify that the computers where damaged upon arrival and enter the number 3 in the “Quantity” box.

We then click “Save” to finish.

The 3 unsellable computers will appear on the Fix Items page where you can deal with them later. See the Fix damaged or lost items page to learn how you can manage these unsellable items.

Scan to Receive

If your warehouse supports barcode scanning, you can use the "Scan to Receive" feature to streamline the process. Simply scan the barcodes of the items as they are received and the portal will automatically update the "Actual" column. This method greatly reduces the chance of human error and improves efficiency.

In addition to the "Scan to Receive" function, you can also use the scanning feature when adding items to a shipment. When the "Add Items" slide over appears, simply scan the barcode of the item you want to add. This will automatically select the item in the system, making the process of adding items to a shipment much more efficient.

If you prefer using your barcode scanner to filter the list of items, you can use the disable scan to receive option to use the barcode scanner to enter text into the filter.
