Connect and Manage Partner Apps

Partner apps are tools built by other companies that can connect to your PrepBusiness account. This article explains how to find apps, connect one, choose what it can access, and remove its access later.

Partner integrations are being rolled out gradually. If you don't see Integrations in your sidebar, the feature isn't available on your account yet.

Who Can Do What

  • Anyone on your team can browse the apps on the Integrations page.
  • Only an Owner can give an app access to an account, and only to accounts they own. This applies to both warehouse (service provider) owners and client (merchant) owners.
  • Only an Owner can see and remove the apps connected to an account.

Finding Apps

  1. Click Integrations in the sidebar.
  2. Browse the apps. Each one shows its name and description, plus a Website link if the app's developer has added one.
  3. If you are an Owner, apps already connected to the account you are using are marked Connected.

If an app's Connect button is greyed out with "This app can't be connected from here yet", the app's developer hasn't set up a connection link. Contact the app's developer.

Connecting an App

  1. On the Integrations page, click Connect on the app. This takes you to the app's own website to set it up there.
  2. When the app asks for access, you are brought back to PrepBusiness. Log in if you're asked to.
  3. Review the request. The page shows which app is asking and lists the accounts you own, grouped under Service providers and Merchants.
  4. Tick each account you want the app to use.
  5. For each ticked account, choose a permission from Add a permission for account. Repeat until you've added every permission you want to give. Nothing is selected for you, and each ticked account needs at least one permission.
  6. Check the summary under Approving will grant app.
  7. Click Approve to connect, or Deny to refuse. Either way you are returned to the app.

Some apps can also start this from their own website without going through the Integrations page. The steps from step 2 on are the same.

About Permissions

  • You only see permissions the app asked for, and you can give each account a different set.
  • Each permission is separate. For example, "Update inventory" does not include "View inventory".
  • A permission lets the app request that kind of access. It doesn't guarantee the app can already do everything that permission describes. Ask the app's developer what their app does.

If You See "No accounts available"

Only account Owners can approve apps. Ask an Owner of the account to connect the app.

Connecting the Same App Again

If you connect an app you've already connected, the accounts and permissions you choose this time replace your earlier choices for that app. Any account you don't tick again loses access.

Reviewing Connected Apps

Warehouses (service providers): go to Account Settings → Integrations → Connected Apps.

Clients (merchants): go to Merchant Settings → Integrations and scroll to Connected apps below your webhooks.

The list shows each app, the permissions it has for this account, its status and the date it was connected.

StatusWhat it means
ActiveThe app can use its access.
Not approvedThe app isn't approved right now, so it can't use its access until it is.
SuspendedThe app is suspended, so it can't use its access until it's reinstated.
RevokedThe app was revoked and can no longer use its access.

You can still remove an app whatever its status.

If two Owners each connected the same app, it appears once for each of them.

Owning a warehouse doesn't let you manage your clients' connected apps. Each account's connected apps are managed by that account's own Owners.

Removing an App

  1. Open the connected apps list for the account (see above).
  2. Click Remove next to the app.
  3. Click Remove app to confirm.

The app immediately loses access to this account only. If you also gave it access to other accounts, those keep working. Remove the app from each account it should no longer reach.

When an app has been removed from every account it was given, it is fully disconnected. To use it again, you need to connect it and approve it again.

Removing a team member or changing their role does not disconnect apps they approved. Remove those apps from the connected apps list.
